Q. I have found higher capacity Ni-MH batteries for sale than what are listed on the website, are they real?
A. Currently Sony only has AA in 2100mAh, 2300mAh and 2500 mAh. AAA is only available in 800 and 900 mAh. The mAh are printed on the actual batteries and there is an "HR" engraved on the negative end of authentic Sony Batteries.
There are quite a few counterfeit packages in the Latin American market and we are working towards eliminating them.
The BCG-34HRMF4 charger with 4 AA 2700mAh has just been released and should be available shortly in your market. Please let us know where you are located and we can direct you to an authorized dealer.

Q. Can I use different capacity batteries than what came with my charger?
A. All Sony chargers are able to charge all Sony rechargeable batteries regardless of the capacity. We do not guarantee the performance of other manufacturers batteries or charger, thus we suggest that you only use Sony products interchangeably. |
Q. Can I recharge my alkaline or heavy duty batteries?
A. No. Do not try to recharge, non-rechargeable batteries. This can damage both the battery and charger. |
Q. How many times can I recharge NiMH batteries?
A. NiMH batteries can be charged up to 500 times if properly used and stored. It is recommended to fully discharge the batteries before recharging. This can be done with the Sony chargers with “REFRESH” function. |
Q. Can I store my NiMH batteries in a plugged in charger?
A. It is not recommended to store batteries in a plugged in charger. We suggest that the charger be unplugged when not in use. |
Q. Should I store my batteries in the fridge?
A. No, batteries should be stored at room temperature and moderate humidity. Condensation in a fridge or freezer may cause corrosion and result in battery leakage. |
