SONY RECEIVES BEST-IN-CLASS AWARD FROM SUN
MICROSYSTEMS
SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 19, 2002 Sony Electronics has just
been recognized by Sun Microsystems Inc. (NASDAQ: SUNW) with a
Best-in-Class Award for being the best supplier for memory devices in
2002.
Sony provides memory devices such a ultra high-speed SRAMs for Sun's data
center products and mid-to-entry-level computing servers. Sony's high
performance memory devices help contribute to Sun's performance leadership
in the server and workstation market.
This marks the third time that Sony has been recognized as part of the Sun
Supplier Awards program.
"This award reflects on our commitment and determination in continuing to
strengthen our strategic relationship with Sun," said Pradip Banerjee,
vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics' Semiconductor and
Electronic Devices Division.
"Sony has consistently provided memory devices which are well-suited to
the
high-speed performance requirements of Sun's products," said Kevin
Carroll, vice president for supplier management at Sun. "The supplier
awards are our way of publicly recognizing outstanding performance
contributing to Sun's business strategies and to delivering state of the
art products to our customers."
The goal of Sun's annual supplier awards recognition program is to honor
